Profiel

Vaatchirurgie is een veelzijdig en uitdagend specialisme. Het kent een breed scala aan behandeling zowel groot als klein, open en endovasculair, dat wil zeggen alles wat met de bloedvaten te maken heeft. Vaatpatiënten zijn over het algemeen patiënten met meerdere bijkomende ziekten, dit vereist een bredere aanpak. Bij het opstellen van een behandelplan is het dan ook noodzakelijk met al die zaken rekening te houden.

Het is erg mooi om samen met de patiënt, na afwegen van voor- en nadelen van een eventuele behandeling, toe te werken naar een op de patiënt afgestemde behandeling. Ook het afzien van een eventuele behandeling hoort hier bij, en dit is mogelijk nóg moeilijker. Als vaatchirurg behandel je patiënten dus van A tot Z.
